Good Witch Style
The Good Witch movie series is a guilty pleasure of mine, to the point that I think The Good Witch's Gift is my favorite Christmas movie. They are undeniably cheesy, but totally entertaining, and Cassie Nightingale is so charming.
What I really like about Cassie Nightingale's character is that she embraces possibility and that is her magic. There's no Hollywood-style spells, she just believes in herself and others to the point that she nurtures growth and change.
Cassie is also the closest thing I have found to a fashion icon that fits my style. She keeps things simple and seasonal, with quirky details and statement jewelry. I'd love to raid her closet for her flowy jackets alone! It was hard to find images online that show her style, check out the movies for the full effect.
I think the best place I have found so far for clothes that capture the Good Witch spirit is the Etsy shop Treehouse28. This top http://www.etsy.com/listing/62178676/wrap-top is so Cassie, and this jacket http://www.etsy.com/listing/64066519/one-tie-coat too. I could see mixing these pieces with some silk or sheer items for a soft, yet sculptural feel.

Small Business Spotlight
Last December, I posted several of my favorite small businesses on my Facebook page in order to encourage friends to support independant merchants while doing their holiday shopping. It's that time of year again!I bought a silver oak leaf headband from The Faerie Market several months ago, and every time I wear it I get tons of compliments. It's extremely well made from luxurious materials and it makes the forest girl in me very happy. The shop also includes some big-ticket fiber art items, but the headbands are affordable indulgences.

Dance, dance, dance
For November and December, our dance studio turned the schedule to workshops only, and I am pushing my schedule and my budget to the max, trying to take as many as I can. So far I have completed Serpentine Movement (made me feel like I'd been punched repeatedly in the ribs), Ridiculously Hard Tribal (made me feel like I'd been punched in the ego), Aksak (a choreography I already performed, and this broke it down and showed be what I did wrong) and Cassandra Veil, an advance choreography that scrambled my brain.
Sometimes I wonder if I am dabbling in too many different things to do any one choreography or style really well. But it sure is fun try try to keep up with it all!

Inaugural retail therapy post
Yay, new blog! A place to share my favorite independent retailers, news about dancing and life and jewelry endeavors.
Fall is my favorite time of year, and I tend to hoard autumnal candles, soaps, perfumes, etc. So here's a little season review.
Haus of Gloi
I was a little disappointed with Haus of Gloi's autumn line this year, everything just seemed too sweet and vanilla for me. I'm more of a dry leaves, smoke on the wind kind of fragrance girl. The surprise hit was Ghost Puffs, which smells like popcorn balls, but it's surprisingly not completely foody. It's light, buttery and sweet, with a wood nuance. The Haus also offered a limited edition "candy bowl" collection and I adore the salty caramel perfume. How do you bottle the scent of salt? They managed it. Of course, Samhain was a hot with me-all smoke and chill wind.
And then...they made a little update with Parkin and Plotters Breakfast. I am in love. Plotter's Breakfast is my favorite. It's evocative of a smoky cabin in the woods. It transports me to one of my favorite places on the planet, Spring Mill State Park:
Parkin is all ginger cake, but it's spicy enough to keep from being cloying. Parkin and Plotter's Breakfast are both still available on the site, so take a look!

Solstice Scents has got to be one of the best fragrance shops on the 'net. From them I can get atmospheric, dark scents year round, and autumn brings new favorites. This year I was loving Jack and the Devil which is a sweet pumpkin scent darkened with earthy patchouli and Foxcroft, which is the fall breeze scent I have been searching for forever. I even purchased the Burnishing Glace in Foxcroft, which is saying something since that product liberally douses you with scent. I also gifted my sister with some Violet Truffle products. I can't say enough good things about Solstice Scents, everything from the packaging to the customer service is top notch.

Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground. The name says it all. There's no way this could smell like anything but awesomesauce, and it does!
Now I am looking ahead to Yule, and anxiously awaiting my Haus of Gloi order-Snow Wolf, Hearth, and Three Treasures. Because you can never have enough soap and perfume...right?
